How Long Does a Chimney Cleaning Take?

The Short Version: 45 Minutes to an Hour

Most standard cleanings take somewhere between forty-five minutes and an hour, start to finish. That covers a full inspection, cleaning the flue and firebox, and a walkthrough of what I found.

What Can Make It Take Longer

• It's been more than a year (or two) since the last cleaning, so there's more buildup to clear

• You have a multi-flue system or more than one fireplace

• Access is tricky — a steep roof or a chimney that's hard to reach safely

• I find something that needs a closer look, like a cracked cap or damaged flashing

What I'm Doing the Whole Time

I lay down drop cloths, use a vacuum system to contain dust and debris while I work, and walk you through exactly what I'm seeing before I pack up.
